Halls Harbour, Nova Scotia

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I had a chance to visit Halls Harbour last week while on a road trip to visit our Associates around the province. I have two images of the harbour. The first one is a web cam image of where I stood to get the shot

and the second is the actual panoramic photo I captured. And lastly the link is attached to the Halls Harbour web cam.

Fronm the Halls Harbour web site. “Our community is located in the southwest region of Nova Scotia, Canada – a very diverse and interesting area.

Halls Harbour lends it name both to the small fishing hamlet and to the wider community which takes up an area roughly 5 kilometers square. On the south the area overlooks the Annapolis Valley, on the north overlooking the Bay of Fundy,on the east Sheffield Vault and on the west Chipman Brook. The area is very scenic and the hamlet itself has been declared a Tourism Destination Area. The area boasts a fine restaurant and lobster pound, overnight accommodations, artists studio, antiques and artisans galleries. Check out our links to learn more about visiting the area and what we have to offer.

Sea Smoke

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

This is a new category I am starting called Photography. I am going to post what I consider worthwhile images that I take from time to time. For the first image, I want to give you a sample of a recent photo I took at the Tancook ferry wharf in Chester, Nova Scotia. To set the scene, it was approx. 7:30AM on Dec 22nd. 2007 and minus 10°C or 15°F. I was doing a tour around the village trying to capture the sea smoke rising off the harbour. As I drove past the Tancook ferry wharf I saw this scene. “Home by the Sea” a local lobster boat was about to leave the wharf and was warming up (see exhaust pipe up in mast array) ready to depart. I snapped 3 images (-1 exp, 0 exp. & +1exp.) to process an HDR image when I got home.
