Anyone interested in seeing exactly how GJR’s attention to detail will translate into reality at Sheppard’s Island can now drop into the model suite, located at 600 Windmill Road, just down from Country Hearth and Fireplace.

The model suite isn’t an actual unit from the development, but instead is a representative sample of the main elements and style potential residents can expect to see in the finished building.

…The painting, depicting a view of Wright’s Cove as it may have looked 100 years ago, was commissioned from Zecha Rexhepi, a local muralist who teaches oils and water colours for HRM and has worked on projects as varied as Alderney Gate in Dartmouth to 18th century churches in Europe.

Nova Scotia’s first all luxury stone facade waterfront condominiums.

In its two decades of operation, GJR Developments Ltd. has established itself as an award-winning builder of quality, custom homes.

Interpreting stylistic cues from the Georgian and English Tudor schools of architecture, GJR combines magnificent stonework, detailed craftsmanship and open designs to create energy efficient homes with an Old World ambiance. Under the direction of its founder, Dartmouth-native Joe Ross, GJR has successfully integrated this concept into the local market.

GJR’s hands-on approach to the building process results not only in a higher-quality end product; it has caused the company to grow into one of the most sought-after residential builders in the area. Every GJR project is carefully designed to give equal consideration to site gradation, elevation and overall presentation consistent with the company’s unwavering attention to detail.

GJR Developments Ltd. has recently expanded its construction services to encompass several housing projects, with an emphasis on multi-unit developments. Its newest is Sheppard’s Island Condominiums.

Nestled in Wright’s Cove, Sheppard’s Island Condominiums will offer Old World European styling and exceptional modern conveniences for discriminating consumers regionally, nationally and internationally. GJR Developments will provide its trademark personal touch to Halifax Regional Municipality’s newest waterfront development, making Sheppard’s Island Condominiums the new standard for luxurious waterfront living.

The suite presents one interpretation of a bathroom,
bedroom, living room and kitchen from the development, as well as presenting the variety of interior finish materials from which purchasers are able to choose.

All units of Sheppard’s Island Condominiums will offer: 10 foot ceilings, windows reaching almost floor to ceiling, open concept design and larger than average living spaces.

A unique feature included as the backdrop of the model suite is a mural covering an entire wall of the model living room. The painting, depicting a view of Wright’s Cove as it may have looked 100 years ago, was commissioned from Zecha Rexhepi, a local muralist who teaches oils and water colours for HRM and has worked on projects as varied as Alderney Gate in Dartmouth to 18th century churches in Europe.

Prior to the model suite, 13 units of this premium development were already sold, with another 12 on reserve. With only 132 units in total, the project may well sell out prior to its scheduled completion date in 2008. Guided tours of the actual building site with its magnificent views of Bedford Basin can be arranged through the staff at the model suite.

The Sheppard’s Island project also marks a first for another Nova Scotian company, Tradewinds Realty Inc. Tradewinds under the direction of Tim Harris is handling the sales of the condominium units to potential tenants. This is the firm’s first foray into the metro real estate market and a small branch office has been set up in Dartmouth to handle the job.
